Helping to save babies’ lives
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is the most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies in the UK. Each year up to 700 babies aged up to three months develop serious GBS infection and sadly, even with the best medical care, around 75 of those sick babies die as a result. Yet most of these infections are preventable if women in known higher-risk situations are given antibiotics during labour. Too many pregnant women don’t know about GBS. Help us to raise awareness both among expectant parents and health professionals by providing the essential information about preventing GBS infections in newborn babies.
