Nia Griffith MP outside Downing Street, followed by Nicholas Soames MPLydia Lloyd, a supporter in Llanelli, was so upset when her local hospital could not take our leaflets because they were not bilingual (Welsh/English) that she contacted her MP, Nia Griffith.  Nia was concerned to hear that local women would not have information about GBS.  She has arranged for our introductory leaflet “GBS & Pregnancy” and our ‘Pregnant?’ poster to be translated into Welsh and printed as bilingual documents, which will make them more acceptable to local hospitals.

These have now been printed and were launched at Llanelli Quadrant Centre on 7 August 2008.

You can download the "GBS & Pregnancy" leaflet in Welsh by clicking here.

You can download the "Pregnant?" poster in Welsh by clicking here.

And you can contact us at info@gbss.org.uk for copies - just let us know how many you'd like of each and where to send them.  And, of course, if you'd like some in English too, we'll be only too happy to send them to you as well!

Nia Griffith has supported the GBS petition and joined us and other MPs from all parties when we delivered it to the Prime Minister in January 2008, and the photo shows her outside 10 Downing Street on the day, followed by Nicholas Soames MP who had organised the petition's delivery.  You can read more about the petition by clicking here.

Lydia has held a Group B Strep Awareness Day in the Llanelli Quadrant Centre, giving out leaflets and chatting to members of the public about her experience with GBS and why she would like all women to be offered a reliable test for GBS test in late pregnancy.  She said members of the public knew very little about GBS and were very supportive of all she is trying to do in the area.
